Healthy Snack (Drink): Coconut water with a twist

Aqua Coco Active Coconut Water is a drink I’ve been trying out for a few months and I have to admit I would enjoy it more if I was sat on a beach, relaxing and sipping on this goodness.

In my first healthy snacks post, Yushoi Snapea Rice Sticks, I mentioned how I’m not a fan of coconut so when I was sent these bottles of coconut water I thought I’ll definitely be giving these away. To my surprise, I enjoyed the drink and drank them whilst I was working out to stay hydrated and give me that little boost I needed. The bottles also have an easy-grip and sleek feel which is perfect for runners or sport bottle holders.

Aqua Coco Actives coconut water has been made from young green coconuts and states that it is 100% pure and natural, with no added sugar or nasties. One sip and you know it’s true, the coconut water tastes fresh like it just dropped from a coconut tree.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while you should know that I love a little experiment in the kitchen. I decided to make a drink using Aqua Coco Active Coconut Water; it was too good not to share.

Ingredients:

1 bottle of Aqua Coco Active Coconut Water

1/2 Pineapple, cut into chunks

1/2 lime, squeezed

A small ice cube size of fresh ginger

Fresh mint leaves

Handful of ice cubes

Method:

  1. Put all ingredients into a blender and whizz it up.
  2. Pour into a glass, add a few mint leaves and serve.

Ingredients such as lime, ginger, and mint are optional but definitely recommend them to get a burst of tropical flavour in your mouth. You can also add-in other fruits, I know I will be and if I find something I like, I will share it with you.

Don’t forget that Coconut water has many health benefits; it has more potassium than a banana, it is a great drink to beat that thirst when you are feeling dehydrated, its a great anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral. Definitely going to try and drink coconut water more often now even if it’s added to a smoothie or juice.

I purchased a blender not long ago and have been trying out lots of smoothies, so if you have any recommendations for some yummy smoothies, do let me know in the comments or tweet me @womanishaffairs.

If you enjoy whizzing up your own drinks, check out the recipes I’ve shared on my blog; Watermelon Slush, Mango Milkshake, and Iced Coffee.

If you would like to give this sweet and refreshing coconut water a try, you can find it in store at Tesco or online.
